The Modernization Framework — Get Found

How customers find a business is changing.

Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) is the practice of structuring a website so AI systems — Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and similar answer engines — can accurately understand your business and cite it in a generated answer, not just rank it as a link.Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) is the closely related term for the same shift. We help established businesses stay visible across both the traditional results page and the AI-generated answers layer above it — without promising rankings or AI recommendations that no agency actually controls.

Why this matters now

The discovery layer that sits between a business and a customer looking for it has changed faster in the past two years than in the prior decade. Zero-click activity — a query that ends without a visit to any website — now accounts for 68% of all Google queries, up from roughly 45% a decade ago, according to clickstream data Similarweb shared with independent researcher Rand Fishkin for his 2026 study. The mechanism driving that acceleration is AI Overviews: when Google shows one, people click through to a traditional result only 8% of the time, versus 15% when no AI Overview is shown, per Pew Research browsing data from March 2025.

That doesn't mean visibility has gotten less important — it means the thing worth optimizing for has partly moved from "rank on the results page" to "get cited inside the answer." A well-structured, technically clean site is the foundation for both. What changed is that ranking well is no longer the only outcome that matters.

What we provide

  • Technical SEO: structured data, sitemaps, crawlability
  • AI search & answer engine visibility (AEO/GEO) — content built to be understood by AI systems, not just ranked
  • Content architecture built for topical authority
  • Connected structured data (JSON-LD) — the same schema architecture that runs this site
  • Search performance measurement and reporting
"Adding schema produced no major uplift in citations on any platform."— Ahrefs, tracking 1,885 pages that added JSON-LD schema, Aug 2025–Mar 2026

What we don't promise

No agency can guarantee a specific ranking or that an AI assistant will recommend your business — anyone who tells you otherwise is overselling what the technology allows. That includes schema markup itself: the Ahrefs study quoted above found effects ranging from a small statistically significant decline on Google AI Overviews (−4.6%) to effects "statistically indistinguishable from zero" on Google AI Mode and ChatGPT. Schema amplifies content that's already strong — it doesn't rescue weak content, and it isn't a shortcut around doing the underlying work well.

What we can do is remove the structural reasons a search engine or AI system would fail to understand or trust your site: missing structured data, poor crawlability, thin or disorganized content, and pages that don't clearly state what your business actually does.

The proof is on this site

This isn't theoretical — continuitweb.com runs on a single connected structured-data graph (JSON-LD) linking the organization, services, and FAQ content together, the same kind of architecture AI systems parse well (with the caveat above: well-structured data supports discovery, it doesn't guarantee a citation). It's the method we bring to every engagement, demonstrated on our own site first.

Who this is for

Businesses with real demand for what they do — but a site that search engines and AI systems currently struggle to parse, or that's never been structured for discovery beyond a basic listing.

Common questions

What is Answer Engine Optimization (AEO)?

AEO is the practice of structuring a website's content and data so AI systems — Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and similar answer engines — can accurately understand it and cite it in a generated answer, instead of only ranking it as a blue link. Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) is the closely related term for the same shift, usually used when talking about generative AI outputs specifically.

What's the actual difference between AEO and traditional SEO?

Traditional SEO optimizes for a ranked list of links a person scrolls through. AEO optimizes for a single generated answer that may or may not link back to you at all. The technical foundation overlaps heavily — crawlability, page speed, and clean structured data matter to both — but the target outcome is different: a citation inside an AI-written answer instead of a click on a search result.

Can you guarantee my business will show up in AI Overviews or ChatGPT answers?

No, and any agency that promises this is overselling what the technology allows. Nobody outside Google, OpenAI, Perplexity, or Anthropic controls which sources those systems choose to cite for a given query. What we can do is remove the structural reasons an AI system would fail to understand, trust, or extract from your site — missing structured data, thin or disorganized content, and pages that don't clearly state what your business does.

Does adding schema markup guarantee AI citations?

No — and the data backs that up. A 2026 Ahrefs study tracking 1,885 pages that added JSON-LD schema found no major citation uplift on any AI platform measured (Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, and ChatGPT). Schema is still worth doing correctly — it's part of the technical foundation, and it's how a site tells an AI system what it's looking at unambiguously — but it amplifies content that's already strong. It doesn't rescue weak content, and we won't tell you otherwise.

How long does AEO/GEO work take to show results?

There's no fixed timeline we can quote you here — it depends on your starting technical condition, how competitive your specific queries are, and how AI systems are already citing your site (or not). A Digital Modernization Assessment includes a look at where you currently stand before any commitment, so timeline expectations are set against your actual situation instead of a generic promise.
